Vulkaan in Nederland | Volcano in Holland

The Netherlands is one of the few countries without mountanious landscape. Why are there no volcanos in Holland? I googled 'volcano in Holland' and discovered a rather unknown fact: two kilometres deep in the earth underneath the Waddenzee lies the Zuidwal volcano. It worked 120 million years ago for approximately 12 million years. The discovery of this hidden volcano was the beginning of a still growing interest in volcanos.

This work was specially conceived for the cellar where is was at display during the last weeks of the exhibition Between Time Between Space. The exhibition took place in the Besiendershuis, an
building from the 16th century in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. This building is located at the quay with a prominent view on the river the Waal.

The aim of this presentation was to connect it to the works that where showed during the whole lenght of the exhibition: Lake Toba 1947/1948 and Aeropuerto on the second floor.
The emphasized view caused by the work Lake Toba 1947/1948 comes back in the projection; a photograph of the river in a frozen condition something that couldn't happen nowadays. It also shows an old photograph of the Besiendershuis itself in a more spacious environment opposite to how it is now.
