NACHTWERK/NIGHT WORK (EN)
Nighttime conceals, even during the lightest days of the year, a lot of nightly phenomena. Phenomena that everyone knows exist, but that become only slightly visible for those with a common day and night rhythm. Night animals show up and leave their tracks, roads are being asphalted, cafes scrubbed, sick people treated, the stars watched, and the sleepless wandering the streets. Night work has something mysterious, elusive for those who live during daytime. In the week of the longest days and shortest nights an exhibition on night work by four young artists opens.
LECTURE (20.00 hr)
Jelle Sapulete, 3rd year architecture student at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture gives a short lecture on his project ‘Can I borough your Light, please?’
While studying at the academy, Jelle Sapulete did a research on street lighting at night. Besides getting into how we can lower the enormous amount of energy used by diffusing street lighting, he particularly focused on how street lighting can make the night more inspiring.
